"God stretches the northern sky over empty space and hangs the earth on nothing . . . His Spirit made the heavens beautiful . . . These are some of the minor things He does, merely a whisper of His power."
The Book of Job, Chapter 26, Verses 7, 13 & 14.
Poet/Songwriter Rich Mullins wrote "there is such a thing as Glory, and there are hints of it everywhere, and the hints are overwhelming and its scent is in the air." Indeed, in such a grand design as the world we live in, there is glory to be found that points to a Glory beyond nature; if we stop to look, we will apprehend it.
The 26th Chapter of Job speaks of God's power in creation and His sustaining of our universe. Then in the final verse the remarkable statement is made that all of these things are just "whispers of His power" and the "outer fringe" of His work.
I am constantly and consistently amazed by the showcases of wonder in the world around me and the camera lens helps to capture some of these and remind me of an even greater wonder: that the God who fashioned all of this is the same God who loves and cares for me.
This collection of photographs will hopefully communicate the fact that pictures themselves are "art" because they capture art that is already there.
Most of the photographs were - and continue to be - taken in Kansas and showcase the particular beauty of that state. Other pictures feature subjects from the Wasatch mountains of Utah and images from the Atlantic shore.
Enjoy yourself!
